<p style="text-align: center;">2012 15th ANNUAL $1 MILLION GIVEAWAY<br />
TO FIGHT HUNGER</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">For the 15th consecutive year the Feinstein Foundation will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide using it to help them raise funds this March and April.   The Friendly House, for the 7th consecutive year, will be participating in this Giveaway to help raise money to fight hunger in our local community.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">ABOUT THE GIVEAWAY:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Foundation requires that every agency undertaking this challenge only use donations or pledges received from March 1st, 2012 to April 30th, 2012 to calculate how much of the $1 Million they are eligible to receive to help supply food to the local community.  The Friendly House will use all donations and pledges received to help those in need living in the Worcester area.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">PLEASE DONATE:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Friendly House is asking that you donate money, food or make a pledge to help by the April 30th deadline, so that we may continue to help the hungry in our community.  All proceeds from this giveaway go to providing, purchasing and distributing food.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">ABOUT THE FOUNDATION:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Feinstein's past annual $1 Million challenge to fight hunger have raised over $1.25 Billion for over 2000 agencies and houses of worship nationwide helping the needy.  The Foundation was founded in 1991 <span style="font-size: small;">by Alan Shawn Feinstein, the Feinstein Foundation is dedicated to the alleviation of hunger, the importance of community service in education and the values of caring, compassion and brotherhood.</span>  We at the Friendly House are proud to be associated with this foundation and its cause.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">HOW TO GET INVOLVED AND HELP:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If you would like to participate there are 3 ways in which you can help us feed the hungry.</p>
<ol>
<li>Send Cash or Checks to: "The Friendly House" c/o Susan Daly,  36 Wall Street, Worcester, MA 01604 (Please ensure that you label the memo field of the Check "Feinstein Foundation")</li>
<li>Food Donation:  All food donations made to the Friendly House from March 1st to April 30th will count towards this challenge. ($1/item or pound)</li>
<li>Pledges:  All amounts pledged by donors during this time for the challenge will count towards this challenge.</li>
</ol>

<p>On Saturday April 21st, 2012 the Friendly House will be participating in the 23rd Annual REC Earth Day cleanups.  The Friendly House is in need of volunteers to help in various locations.  Please contact our site coordinator Susan Daly at 508-755-4362 or sdaly@friendlyhousema.org for more details on the date.  Registration starts March 1st and ends April 6th.</p>
<p>The Friendly House also will need trash bags, gloves, rakes and any other tools to help with the clean up.  We appreciate your continued support as we try to improve our neighborhood.</p>

<p> BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Quinsigamond Village Community Center (QVCC) was established in 1978 to encourage and promote improvement of quality of life for it’s residents and to assist them in attaining their full potential and maximizing benefits from the community (among many other goals). Since 2000, Friendly House has served as the fiscal conduit for the annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds allocated through the City.</p>
<p><span id="more-667"></span></p>
<p>POSITION TITLE: Program Director of CDBG-funded Public Services Programs.</p>
<p>BASIC FUNCTION: To plan, administer, implement and evaluate the CDBG programming</p>
<p>REPORTS TO: Direct supervision provided by the Friendly House Executive Director (or other FH designee) in collaboration with the QVCC Executive Committee.</p>
<p>DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:</p>
<ul>
<li>Plan, organize, and supervise the CDBG-funded Public Service programs consistent with annual contractual goals and outcomes specified in  the Community Development contract and with agency policies, needs of neighborhood residents, clients, and the community. Ensure compliance with Federal and MA State regulations.</li>
<li>Develop record keeping systems and consumer files to include data collection, compilation, distribution &amp; analysis. Prepares regular reports on activities, statistics and achievements of CDBG-funded program. Prepare and send required reports to funders. Provide program reports, assessments and recommendations to the QVCC Executive Committee that will facilitate the necessary financial, programmatic and personnel structure to achieve contract scopes.</li>
<li>Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate program volunteers necessary to carry out the contractual activities. Recommend volunteer appointments to the QVCC Executive Committee. Adhere to and communicate program policies and procedures to volunteers such as best practices, federal and state program regulations, Privacy and Confidentiality rules. Provide on-site management, to the extent possible by the daily paid and scheduled hours of employment during normal hours of the Public Services programs.</li>
<li>Promote the QVCC programs &amp; maintains working relationships/partnerships with neighborhood organizations, groups, residents, clientele, churches and businesses without compromising or interfering with on-site program delivery. Recruit new collaborators.</li>
<li>Assists the QVCC Finance Committee to identify, apply for and obtain additional funding and resources when necessary (including writing grants and proposals).</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned by mutual agreement and within the scope of the Public Service Program.</li>
</ul>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of the QVCC service area and neighborhood.</li>
<li>Experience and/or education in community development, direct social services, case management or related field.</li>
<li>Supervisory experience strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.</li>
<li>Access to reliable transportation required, car ownership recommended.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and writing skills required, including knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel</li>
