For over 95 years Friendly House has been a staple in the Grafton Hill community, serving over 15,000 families and children on an annual basis. Founded for the educational, social and family betterment of residents of the City of Worcester, Friendly House's mission is to be an "integrating force" for families and neighborhoods. Friendly House is the largest neighborhood-based multi-service center in Worcester. Social Service, Housing and Child and Youth Programming provides low-income children and their families in Worcester with a full spectrum of services to meet their critical basic needs with programs that help them move out of poverty and toward self-sufficiency. It is often the "agency of last resort" when their needs cannot be met by other organizations.

Friendly House’s main location is on 36 Wall Street. In this facility you will witness a plethora of program and activities occurring on a daily basis, most of which occur in our Gymnasium. The Gymnasium is the hub of our agency, hosting thousands of people annually through programs and events. This location is the main gathering area for all Youth Department Programs including; the Afterschool Program, Teen Leadership Program, Summer Gym and Swim Camp, the very recognizable Youth Hoops Program and the citywide summer YouthConnect Program. In addition the gym hosts the annual Family Holiday Party (500 plus families), the Holiday and Toy Drives and distributions (thousands of families) and is the agencies distribution site for our Food Program.  Without the proper spacing the gymnasium provides, Friendly House would not be able to execute much of its daily operation properly.

For many families entering our gymnasium is a family tradition passed down from one generation to the next. As we continue these traditions, we are hoping to provide our youth with the best atmosphere and facility that we can.

Friendly House has started a small capital campaign to fund a complete renovation of its gymnasium. This renovation would include: resurfacing the Gym floor, new bleachers, new gym divider, wall padding, a basketball scoring table and chairs and new paint; totaling $75,000. Through the gracious funding provided by the Amelia Peabody Foundation, $35,000 has been secured for the gym floor. We are reaching out to friends with the hopes that you will consider contributing to this very important campaign. You can give at any level you so choose, as all contributions are greatly appreciated.
